'Somebody will go there just to take hostage of the occupant, ask something if he has money, then they will just call the family.. If I were the owner of the hotel, I should just be speculating of what will happen to me if I defy the government. There's going to be no gambling and that's it,' he said.
During the reopening of Boracay on October 26, Interior and Local Government Acting Secretary Eduardo Año said all casinos in the newly-rehabilitated island have ceased operation.

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) had released a statement saying the provisional license granted to Boracay Philippines Resort and Leisure Corp. (BPLRC) was issued after the company met all initial documentary requirements such as a Certificate of No Objection and a minimum investment commitment of no less than $300 million.

Macau-based company Galaxy Entertainment Group will handle BPLRC's casino development and operation.
PAGCOR said the license 'is only the start' of the process before the casino can be issued a Notice to Commence Casino Operations and eventually, a regular casino gaming license.
